Sparkling Sansho Lemonade
Ingredients:
Simple Syrup
• 1 cup water
• 1 cup lemon sugar
• 3 Tablespoons crushed Sansho peppercorns
• 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (2-3 good sized lemons)
• 2 cups club soda or sparkling wine or champagne
Garnish (optional)
• Lemon slice
• Crushed Sansho pepper
• Lemon sugar for rimming glass
Instructions
• Fill a Collins glass (about 12oz) halfway with ice
• Add 2 ounces of sansho simple syrup
• Add 1-2 ounces lemon juice (to taste)
• Top with sparkling beverage of choice
• Garnish with lemon wheel and sprinkle with sansho pepper
Optional sugar rim: Before filling glass, combine 1 tablespoons lemon sugar with 1 teaspoon ground sansho pepper. Pour into shallow bowl or plate. Use lemon wedge to moisten rim of glass. Dip rim in sugar mixture to adhere.
