Spice-Sprinkled Cheese Spirals

Spice-Sprinkled Cheese Spirals

You won't believe how quick and easy these hors d'oeuvres are! Just four ingredients, and they can be made in advance, stored in the freezer to pop in the oven when company stops by!

  • Good Quality Frozen Puff Pastry
  • Freshly Grated Cheese of choice (we like parmesean or romano)
  • Spice Blend of choice (we used Everything Bagel here)
  • Eggwash (1 egg + 1tsp water)

Defrost puff pastry according to package directions.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

Roll out one defrosted puff pastry to 1/8" thickness on lightly floured surface. Sprinkle enough grated cheese over half of pastry to coat thoroughly. Fold pastry in half to encase cheese layer. Roll folded pastry just enough to meld chees layer into dough. Using a pizza cutter, slice into approximate 1/4" strips starting from the folded edge. Roll each strip tightly into a spiral starting with the folded edge in the center. Secure loose edge with a bit of egg wsh to keep the spiral intact. (alternately, you can twist the strips and make straws rather than spirals!) Plase spirals at least 1" apart on prepared baking sheet. Brush each spiral with egg wash and sprinkle with spice blend. Place baking sheet in freezer while you preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake in preheted oven for about 15-20 minuted until lightly browned at edges and firm in the middle. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Note - spirals can be made in advance and stored unbaked in the freezer. When ready to bake, remove from freezer and allow to sit at room temperature while oen preheats. A couple extra minutes of baking time may be required.

One sheet of puff pastry makes approximately 25 spirals
